Instructions for the Heron Pose - Yoga for Martial Arts Flexibility (Hamstrings)

This page provides details for the Heron Pose. This Yoga pose is used by martial arts students in order to improve their flexibility and stretch their hamstrings. To intensify this stretch, gently pull for your leg towards your head. This exercise is not recommended for students with knee problems.

Other hamstring stretches include Downward Facing Dog, Hurdler Stretch, Leg Swings, Lying Down Hamstring Stretch, Pyramid Pose, Seated One Leg Hamstring Stretch, Seated Toe Touches, Single Straight Leg Stretch, Sitting Single Leg Hamstring Stretch, Standing Crossed Leg Hamstring Stretch and Standing Hamstring Stretch.

All stretches and exercises should be supervised by a trained instructor in order to prevent injuries and to ensure the proper technique is utilized.
