Black Tiger Fist is a northern Chinese martial art originating in Shandong Province.
The traditional lineage of the system begins with master Wang Zhenyuan in the late nineteenth-century; but the style was originally formed at the Shaolin Henan Temple before being transferred to Wang. The style was then passed from Wang Zhenyuan to Wang Zijiu, then to Wang Zhixiao, and finally to Su Fuyuan (Cantonese: Souw Hok Gwan). If you’ve heard of the “Northern Praying Mantis” style, then it is a valuable advice to not ever mess with Shandong men. The original birth place of the deadly style, Shandong, is blessed with beautiful landscapes which are fortunately far from scary. The capital city Jinan is one of China’s most renowned historical and cultural cities. It is also considered one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization and home of a large number of historical figures, one of them being the Chinese philosophical legend Confucius.
The Black Tiger style is characterised by its extensive footwork, acrobatic kicks, low, wide stances, and unique fist position (where the thumb is curled in the same manner as the other fingers, rather than wrapped around them). According to the Shaolin grandmasters, the style is the single most external style in the Shaolin canon; the longer the stylist practices, however, the more she or he comes to rely solely on internal power. In this respect it is similar to Northern Praying Mantis. Shandong province. Qufu, in the eastern province of Shandong, is best known as the birthplace of Confucius, and the town is dominated by his family's sprawling residence. But now students in Qufu, from as far afield as Brazil, Ukraine, Spain and France, varying in age from six to 50, battle the elements as well as exhaustion at the remote kung fu training academy.

A wide variety of areas of interest and natural beauty can be found here such as the Top of Taipang, Yanxia Cave, Dragon Pools, Yuegu Palace, Wuran temple and the holy classics hill.
The school teaches Taichi, Shaolin, Qigong, Praying Mantis, Bagua, and Xing Yi Quan. You can also learn to use a number of weapons weapons including the sword, spear, straight sword and staff.
Qingdao Laoshan Martial Arts Academy is located just to the North of Qingdao in Shandong province. It is a well established school with a fantastic training area and running track right next door. The school is primarily a Shaolin Kung Fu school, although their masters are capable of teaching a number of different styles. The facilities for combat training are very good, so Sanda training (Chinese kickboxing) here should be a treat.
There are four main masters at the school. The school’s president is Wu Hai Lei. He is a well travelled, multiple provincial Sanda champion. At the age of 37, He has trained in many styles for over 30 years now.
