This stretch is used by martial arts students in order to loosen their hamstrings, groin, quadriceps, etc. Students with knee problems should consider a modified hurdler stretch versus a traditional hurdler stretch. The modified hurdler stretch puts less pressure on the knee than the traditional hurdler stretch.
