Instructions for the Single Leg Standing Exercise - Martial Arts Balance Training

Instructions for One Legged Squat Reach Exercise

  • Stand on one leg.
  • Lift your other leg modestly off the ground. Your foot can be either in front or behind you.
  • To make the exercise a little more difficult, you can raise your arms up to shoulder height.
  • To make this exercise even more difficult, you can close your eyes.
  • For a more advnaced version, you can combine this exercise with a balance board.
  • This balance exercise is generally used for younger students.
  • Instructors often use this exercise as a fun competition tool for their students. They compete to see who can keep their balance the longest with their eyes shut.
