Instructions for Shotokan Kata Taikyoku Nidan (Kihon Kata) This page provides videos and instructions for Shotokan Karate kata "Taikyoku Nidan". These tools will help you prepare for your next belt test. Written step-by-step instructions for this kihon kata are at the bottom of the page. The instructions for Taikyoku Nidan are very similar to Taikyoku Shodan. However, Nidan uses high punches versus middle punches in Shodan. This introductory kata is used by some Shotokan schools as a tool for white belts. Taikyoku Nidan is also known as one of the kihon kata.
