Tenshinkan - Karate Sub-Style

Tenshinkan is one of the sub-styles of Karate. However, it also incorporates techniques from Aikido and Japanese Jujutsu. Beyond the traditional kata and techniques of Karate, Tenshinkan includes escapes from grabs and holds, grappling & ground fighting techniques and self-defense against weapons (i.e. guns and knives). Tenshinkan also practices with martial arts weapons such as Kama, Katana and Nunchaku.

According to the Tenshinkan Karate Federation, Tenshinkan includes "modern fighting methods and techniques, like side stepping, avoidance, sliding, shift-step, circular and jumping kick techniques, as well as Goshin Jitsu, a combination of Aikido and Juijitsu techniques, forming a well rounded Martial Arts system".
