Learn about the Tambo - Okinawan Kobudo Weapon

The Tambo is a traditional Okinawan (Japan) Kobudo martial arts weapon. This wooden weapon is roughly 1 1/2 to 2 feet in length and is used like a baton. In contrast, the Bo is 6 foot long and the Jo is 4 feet long.

Kobudo is often taught to senior-level Karate students. However, other martial arts use similar weapons such as Canes, Shillelaghs, Yantok (Eskrima fighting sticks) and Police Batons. The Tambo is not as well known as other Kobudo weapons such as the Bo, Nunchaku and Sai.
