Taekwondo Sparring & Micro Blocking

Micro blocking is a blocking technique used in traditional Taekwondo sparring and other martial arts. It's basic principal is that you should be in a position to move as little as possible to avoid and block any given technique.

For more techniques, please visit the main Taekwondo Sparring section.

Instructions

  • One should stand sideways so as to decrease one's target area. The blockers lead knuckles should face the sky and the elbow the ground. The lead arm should move either in, out, down, or up no more than 2 inches to be able to intercept any technique. This blocking system should be used in conjunction with various stepping techniques so that an attack can be avoided and/or blocked to decrease one's likelihood of being hit.
