Sliding (legs first)

This page provides details on the Systema Slide (Legs First) technique.

Sliding with the legs first is a very good physical and psychological exercise. It tends to be more intimidating than rolling, yet it is much safer practiced on a smooth, hard surface. When you practice this, you get comfortable quickly entering the plane of the ground and using your limbs to control such entry. This will place you in the prone position facing the opposite direction from the one you were initially facing and is thus a useful skill if you need to instantly fire on or take cover from an enemy behind you.
