Self-Defense Techniques For Children

This section looks at self-defense techniques for children to use against adults (i.e. a potential abduction). However, given the extreme difficultly of a child dealing with a 200 lb man, children should always FIRST shout for help and/or run away. Parents must also be vigilant and keep their children from situations where they might be endangered.

Beyond the self-defense techniques taught to children at various martial arts schools (i.e. Taekwondo or Krav Maga), the list below focuses on basic self-defense techniques that can be utilized by children. They do not teach how to knock out or submit an adult (extremely unlikely). Rather, they focus on how to escape the grasp of an attacker. Moreover, these techniques must practiced extensively in order to have any chance at being effective and are more likely more effective when utilized by a teen or pre-teen. A small child is very unlikely to break the grasp of a large adult. Therefore, the first priority remains to call for help and/or run away. Make a scene (with loud screaming) as the adult often wants to avoid attention.
