Reverse Triangle or Female Triangle - Kali Footwork

The Reverse Triangle (or "Female Triangle") is a basic footwork technique used in Eskrima/Arnis/Kali. The main goal of the reverse triangle is to move forward towards the opponent and off the center line of attack. For additional techniques, please visit the main footwork for Kali/Arnis/Eskrima section.

Instructions for Technique

  • You are at the bottom corner of the reverse triangle
  • Moving to the right the right foot moves forward to the top right corner of the triangle and vice versa for the left
    • This gets you moving forward and off the center line
    • Great to use while deflecting an attack
  • Moving back that same foot moves back to the bottom corner of the reverse triangle
    • And the motion can be started again with the same or opposite foot
  • Or the triangle can be closed circling through all three of its corners
