How To Use A Kick To The Shin In Self-Defense Situations

Kicks to an opponent's shin are often used in self-defense situations. The shin is sensitive to strikes and pressure (as we have all learned painfully in elementary school).

There are a large variety of techniques that target an opponent's shin. For example, if someone is caught from the rear in a bear hug, a common technique is to stomp the sole of their shoe down in order to "scrape" the opponent's shin and/or strike the foot. Another technique, if a person has been knocked to the ground, is to utilize a side kick in order to strike an opponent's shin.
