Isshin-Ryu Lower Body Basics This section looks at the Isshin-Ryu Karate lower body basics. These basic techniques cover kicks and knee strikes. They prepare students for kata and more advanced techniques used in Isshin-Ryu. However, the sequence and kicks utilized can vary by school so please check with your instructor. Some of the common kicks used in the Isshin-Ryu lower body basics include the front snap kick, back kick and thrust kick. There are usually 9 lower body basics taught in Isshin-Ryu Karate.
