Groin (Anatomy and Self Defense)

Contrary to popular belief this is an effective self defense attack that can be used against both a man or a woman.

Male:

  • The externalness of the mail groin makes it a desirable target.
  • There are a great number of nerve endings that can be used to inflict a distracting amount of pain. One thing to note though is that this is not always an end-all-be-all self defense if the attacker is testosterone and adrenaline enraged and should be followed up.
    • Techniques include: kick, knee, punch, chop/slap, and grab

Female:

  • Attacks to this area on a woman can actually have some of the similar affects as on a man as there is also a great number of nerve ending to experience pain from a strike.
    • Techniques include: kick, knee, and punch (the internalness of the female organs makes grabbing techniques difficult)

Injury
High impact to the groin of both genders can impact a high number of nerve endings causing, pain to the groin and stomach, vomiting, and even blacking out. In men their reproductive organs can be seriously injured (so be careful when training with a partner). In females a strong kick or strike to the groin is more likely fracture the pubic bone than in males. Also due to a female's internal reproductive organs a high impact strike to the lower abdomen can cause similar pain as the groin strike and potentially damage her organs.
