Forward Triangle or Male Triangle - Kali Footwork

The Forward Triangle (or "Male Triangle") is a basic footwork technique used in Eskrima/Arnis/Kali. The main goal of the reverse triangle is to move forward towards the opponent and off the center line of attack. For additional techniques, please visit the main footwork for Kali/Arnis/Eskrima section.

Instructions for Technique

  • Typically start at the top corner of the triangle
    • Move the right foot to the bottom right corner of the triangle and visa versa with the left
    • This gets you moving backwards and off the center line
    • Great to use while deflecting
  • Going back and forth is great to get use to switching your stance
    • Hitting all the points in a circular fashion in one direction or the other helps build up maneuvering footwork in later drills
