Forward Dive Roll - Martial Arts Falling Technique This page provides details on the forward dive roll. This martial arts falling technique is an advanced fall because it involves a lot of forward motion and flying through the air. The forward dive roll is often seen in martial arts movies because it is acrobatic and dramatic. This technique can be done either where the martial artist rolls over the back or over the shoulder. This falling technique can be used when a martial artist has been knocked to the ground or has been thrown to the ground. This technique also allows the martial artist to quickly get back on their feet and deal with their attacker. Falling techniques are used by a wide range of martial arts such as Judo, Aikido and Krav Maga. The forward dive roll can be dangerous if done incorrectly. All falling techniques should be supervised by a trained instructor in order to prevent injuries and to ensure the proper technique is utilized. For more breakfalls and rolls, please visit the main Martial Arts Falling Techniques section. Instructional Videos for the Forward Dive Roll - Shoulder Roll Version |
