Instructions for the Flying Drop Kick

This page provides information about the "Flying Drop Kick". This colorful martial arts kick is often used in professional wrestling (i.e. WWE), breaking demonstrations and martial arts movies. It is not practical for sparring or self-defense. The flying drop kick is also known as a flying double side kick.

With this kick, you get a running start and leap into the air. You will rotate to your side and kick by thrusting both feet together at the target. This kick can be performed by not rotating your body so it looks like a flying double stomp kick or push kick. However, you face the danger of landing on your back and hitting your head. The side drop kick tends to be a safer version of this type of kick.

For information on other kicks (i.e. spinning hook kick), please visit the main Martial Arts Kicks section.
