Escape From An Inside Mount (Rape Scenario)

This page focuses on an inside mount defense for a rape situation. This is an extremely scary and stressful position to be in and we hope that no one learning this technique will ever have to use it. Please try to avoid dangerous situations where you might be attacked (i.e. walking home drunk at night in an isolated area).

We hope that your self-defense training will be sufficient to stop the aggressor before a rape attempt takes place. In any case, self-defense instructors suggest the following as a guideline/example of how you can get out of the situation. You should always try to fight, scratch, bite, kick and scream for help. Some experts also suggest using verbal defenses such as shouting "I'm on my period!" or "I have AIDS!".

Like all self-defense techniques, the inside mount technique must be practiced frequently and under the supervision of a trained instructor in order to be potentially successful. The videos below provide instruction on how to perform an escape from the mount position where an attacker is on top of you (frontal and rear mounts). Please visit the Women's Self-Defense section for additional techniques.

Escape from Frontal Position

Tips

  • Straight arms to his shoulders can stop his main weight.
  • He is trying to overpower you with his hips, you have just as much mechanical power with yours.

Escape from Rear Position

Tips

  • Protect your head!
  • Pull those hips in.
  • Lock the arm and get him off of you.
