Captain Kirk Technique - US Army Combatives

This throw is named after the popular Star Trek actor. This move is used when a person is standing over you when you are on the ground. This self-defense technique taught in US Army Modern Combatives training.

Technique Instructions

  • The enemy may attempt to pass by standing up. When he does he is very susceptible to being swept.
  • Step 1 (Figure 4-60). When the enemy stands up, maintain control with your arms and let your feet slide naturally down until they are on his hips.
  • Step 2 (Figure 4-61). If his weight gets too far forward, pick him up with your legs and throw him over one of your shoulders. Ensure that you move your head to the opposite side to prevent him landing on you. Finish mounted.
