Instructions for the Bridge Exercise - Martial Arts Strength Exercise

This page provides details on how to perform the "Bridge" exercise. This martial arts isometric exercise focuses on your core strength, lower back, glutes and legs. For a variation of this exercise, please try out the Single Leg Bridge. All stretches and exercises should be supervised by a trained instructor in order to prevent injuries and to ensure the proper technique is utilized.

Instructions for the Bridge Exercise

  • Lying on your back with knees bent at 90 degrees.
  • Your arms should be down along your sides. For more stability, you can place your arms out at a 45 degree angle to your body.
  • Raise your hips off of the ground until your back and thighs form a straight line.
  • Hold for one minute.
  • Slowly lower yourself to the ground.
