Agility Dot Drills - Martial Arts Agility Training

This page provides details for Agility Dot Drills. These exercises help to improve martial arts agility, foot speed, balance and coordination. The dot drill involves placing 5 dots or Xs on the ground so they look like a 5 dots on a dice. Martial artists can do a wide variety of two leg and single leg drills as they jump from dot to dot. See the video below.

Agility training allows martial arts students to change positions rapidly and effectively. This allows martial artists to evade an attack or launch a strike at undefended area (i.e. moving laterally in order to avoid an opponent's blow and thus being able to quickly launch an effective counter attack against an off-balance opponent). Thus improved agility is important for sparring and self-defense situations.

All stretches and exercises should be supervised by a trained martial arts instructor in order to prevent injuries and to ensure the proper technique is utilized. For additional agility drills (i.e. agility ladder drills), please visit the main Martial Arts Agility section.
